Peptide Therapy at Wellington Orthopedic Institute
Peptide therapy is an area of active scientific interest in musculoskeletal medicine. Wellington Orthopedic Institute offers investigational peptide protocols as part of a structured outcomes research program — with full transparency about their regulatory status and the current limits of the evidence.
What Are Peptides?
Peptides are short chains of amino acids — the same building blocks that make up proteins. The body produces many peptides naturally, where they act as signaling molecules that help regulate processes such as tissue repair, inflammation, metabolism, and cellular communication.
Signaling, not structure. Unlike large structural proteins, most peptides act as messengers, binding to receptors and influencing how cells behave.
Why researchers are interested. Because some peptides participate in repair and inflammatory pathways, researchers have explored whether certain peptide compounds might influence recovery in musculoskeletal tissue.
Where the science stands. Much of the available research in this area is early-stage, and the quality and quantity of human clinical evidence for musculoskeletal applications remains limited. That is precisely why we treat this work as research.
Our Research Program
Rather than marketing peptides as an established treatment, WOI approaches them the way a research program should be approached: with defined protocols, careful patient selection, structured documentation, and honest reporting of what we observe.
- Structured protocols. Defined criteria for eligibility, administration, and monitoring rather than ad hoc use.
- Systematic outcome tracking. Baseline measures, standardized follow-up intervals, and documented functional and symptom outcomes.
- Physician oversight. Every participant is evaluated and monitored by Dr. Mikolajczak.
- Conventional care first. Participation never replaces appropriate, evidence-based orthopedic treatment. Standard options are always presented and remain available.
- Willingness to stop. If observed outcomes do not justify continuation for a given patient, the protocol is discontinued.
Is This Right for Me?
This program is not for everyone, and it is never the first thing we recommend. Suitability is determined only through an in-person evaluation.
We consider. Your specific diagnosis, imaging, prior treatments and their results, current medications, overall health, and how you weigh uncertainty against potential benefit.
We discuss. Every conventional alternative — physical therapy, injections, joint preservation strategies, regenerative options, and surgical care where appropriate.
You decide. With complete information about what is known, what is unknown, and what the realistic expectations are. Choosing not to participate changes nothing about the quality of care you receive here.
Transparency & Safety
- Informed consent in plain language. Risks, unknowns, alternatives, and the investigational nature of the protocol are reviewed in full before anything begins.
- No outcome guarantees. We do not promise results, and we do not present investigational work as proven therapy.
- Ongoing monitoring. Scheduled follow-up with documented assessment, and immediate reassessment if any concern arises.
- Your questions, answered directly. If we do not know something, we say so.
Peptide therapy protocols offered at WOI are investigational. They are not FDA-approved for the treatment of joint or musculoskeletal conditions. Individual results vary. All candidates are evaluated thoroughly and all risks, alternatives, and evidence limitations are reviewed during your consultation.
