Regenerative Medicine

Your body has natural healing responses. Regenerative therapies work with those responses to support repair — offering many patients a meaningful alternative to surgery.

In-Office Biologic

PRP — Platelet-Rich Plasma

A small sample of your own blood is processed to concentrate platelets, then injected with ultrasound guidance to support the body's natural healing response. In a pooled analysis of 18 randomized controlled trials (1,995 patients), PRP exceeded the minimum clinically important difference for knee osteoarthritis pain at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months. For rotator cuff repair, PRP has been associated with approximately 38% lower retear rates compared to control in pooled data.

Advanced Biologic

Stem Cell Therapy (MSCs)

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) — typically harvested from bone marrow or fat tissue — have shown promising results in early-stage research for cartilage support, bone healing, and tendon repair. No MSC therapy is currently FDA-approved for orthopedic joint conditions; evidence is actively developing. Dr. Mikolajczak evaluates each patient individually to determine whether MSC therapy is an appropriate option given the current evidence.

Knee OA Cartilage Hip Shoulder

Candidate evaluation required. Results vary by patient and condition.

Cartilage Restoration

Cartilage Restoration (ACI / MACI)

Autologous chondrocyte implantation uses a patient's own cartilage cells to repair damaged joint surfaces — particularly effective for the knee. Restores the natural surface rather than replacing the joint.

Knee Cartilage Joint Surface Repair

Patient evaluation required. Individual results vary.

Biologic Growth Factors

Growth Factor Injections

Bioactive proteins — including bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) — stimulate tissue regeneration. Commonly used in spinal surgery, bone healing, and fracture repair to accelerate and support the body's natural repair process.

Spine Bone Healing Fracture Repair

Patient evaluation required. Individual results vary.

Surgical Biologic Support

Bone Grafting & Biologic Scaffolds

Natural or synthetic scaffold materials serve as a framework for new bone growth. Used in spinal fusion, fracture repair, and joint reconstruction to support structural healing where the body needs additional biological framework.

Spinal Fusion Fracture Repair Joint Reconstruction

Used in surgical context. Specific approach determined at consultation.

In-Office · Non-Surgical

Viscosupplementation (HA Injections)

Hyaluronic acid injections replace depleted joint fluid in osteoarthritic joints — reducing friction, relieving pain, and improving range of motion. A well-established non-surgical option for mild to moderate knee arthritis.

Knee OA Hip OA Joint Pain

In-office procedure. Individual results vary.

Precision Injection

Ultrasound-Guided Injections

Real-time ultrasound imaging ensures injections reach the exact target site — whether for PRP, biologic therapies, or pain management. Precision delivery improves outcomes and reduces risk compared to landmark-guided approaches.

PRP Delivery Biologic Therapy Pain Management

In-office · Increased precision · Minimal downtime.

Anti-Inflammatory · In-Office

Corticosteroid Injections

Targeted corticosteroid injections provide rapid relief from joint inflammation and pain — used for arthritis flare-ups, bursitis, tendonitis, and other inflammatory conditions. Often used as a bridge while evaluating longer-term solutions.

Arthritis Bursitis Tendonitis Inflammation

In-office injection. Frequency determined by physician evaluation.

Peptide & Longevity Medicine

Peptide therapy is an emerging area of personalized medicine. At Wellington Orthopedic Institute, Dr. Mikolajczak evaluates each patient individually to determine whether a peptide consultation is appropriate — based on your health history, goals, and current evidence.

What Is Peptide Therapy?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids — the building blocks of proteins — that act as signaling molecules in the body. Certain peptides have been studied for their potential role in supporting recovery, body composition, hormone balance, and cellular health.

At Wellington Orthopedic Institute, peptide consultations are physician-supervised and individualized. No protocol is prescribed without a thorough evaluation of your health history, labs, and goals. We follow all applicable FDA and compounding pharmacy guidelines.

Recovery Support

Tissue Recovery Protocols

For patients recovering from orthopedic injury, surgery, or significant physical demand. Physician-supervised protocols designed to support your body's natural repair processes as part of a comprehensive recovery plan.

Physician evaluation required. Results vary by individual.

Metabolic Optimization

Body Composition & Metabolism

Some patients seek physician guidance on peptide protocols related to body composition and metabolic health. Dr. Mikolajczak evaluates candidacy based on your labs, medical history, and specific goals — not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Physician evaluation required. Results vary by individual.

Hormone & Vitality

Natural Hormone Support

Certain physician-supervised peptide protocols have been studied for their potential to support the body's natural hormone production. Sermorelin, for example, is a legal, compoundable peptide that has been used in clinical practice since 1997 to support growth hormone pathways.

Sermorelin requires medical necessity documentation. Physician evaluation required.

Longevity & Cellular Health

Longevity Medicine

Emerging research in peptide science continues to explore potential applications in healthy aging, immune support, and cellular optimization. Dr. Mikolajczak stays current with the evolving evidence and regulatory landscape to offer consultations grounded in what is both legal and scientifically supported.

Available protocols vary based on current FDA/compounding regulations. Physician evaluation required.

What a Peptide Consultation Looks Like

1
Medical Evaluation

Dr. Mike reviews your full health history, current labs, symptoms, and goals — in person or via telemedicine.

2
Individualized Protocol

If appropriate, a personalized protocol is designed around your specific needs using only legally available, physician-prescribed compounds.

3
Ongoing Monitoring

Follow-up appointments and lab reviews are built into every protocol. Dr. Mike monitors your response and adjusts as needed.

Important: Peptide therapies discussed at Wellington Orthopedic Institute are not FDA-approved for the treatment of any specific disease or condition. Their use is considered off-label and is subject to evolving FDA and compounding pharmacy regulations. Only peptides that are currently legal and compoundable under applicable guidelines will be discussed or prescribed. Dr. Mikolajczak will review what is currently available and appropriate based on your individual evaluation. Results vary. When Surgery Is the Answer

Cutting-Edge Surgical Techniques

Dr. Mikolajczak's conservative-first philosophy means surgery is reserved for patients who truly need it. When that time comes, he brings the most advanced surgical approaches available today.

Anterior Total Hip Replacement

The anterior approach allows Dr. Mikolajczak to replace the hip joint through the front of the hip rather than the side or back — without cutting through major muscles. This means less pain, faster recovery, and a lower dislocation risk compared to traditional approaches.

Muscle-sparing · Faster recovery · Lower dislocation risk

Also offered: Bikini Incision Approach — the same muscle-sparing technique with the incision placed along the natural bikini line for improved cosmetic outcomes.

Custom Knee Replacement — Tailored to You

No two knees are the same. Dr. Mikolajczak plans every knee replacement around your specific anatomy — so the surgery is built for you, not adapted from a generic template. The result is better alignment, a more natural feel, and a knee that moves the way yours is supposed to.

Built for Your Anatomy Natural Feel & Movement Precision Alignment Tailored to You

Shoulder Replacement Surgery

Dr. Mikolajczak performs total shoulder replacement and reverse total shoulder replacement for patients with severe arthritis, rotator cuff tear arthropathy, or failed previous shoulder surgery. He also offers the full spectrum of arthroscopic shoulder care — rotator cuff repair, labral reconstruction, and impingement treatment.

Total Shoulder Replacement Reverse Shoulder Replacement Rotator Cuff Repair Arthroscopic

Sports Medicine Surgery

ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, labral surgery, and more — using arthroscopic techniques that minimize incision size, preserve healthy tissue, and get athletes and active patients back to full function faster.

ACL · Meniscus · Labrum · Arthroscopic

General Orthopedic Surgery

Fracture management, elbow, wrist, hand, foot and ankle conditions — the full breadth of orthopedic surgical care delivered with the same precision and conservative philosophy that defines every procedure at Wellington Orthopedic Institute.

Fractures · Elbow · Hand · Foot & Ankle

Revision Hip & Knee Surgery

When a prior joint replacement has failed, worn out, or become painful, Dr. Mikolajczak performs complex revision arthroplasty — replacing or refining the original implant to restore function and relieve pain.

Failed Implant Implant Loosening Infection Management

30+ Years of Surgical Expertise

Dr. Mikolajczak has performed thousands of orthopedic procedures over his career. When surgery is the right answer, you want a surgeon who has done it countless times — with the precision, judgment, and experience that only comes with decades of practice.

The surgical procedures described above reflect the general scope of Dr. Mikolajczak's practice. Specific techniques, implant selection, and surgical approach are determined on a patient-by-patient basis following thorough evaluation. Individual outcomes vary.
